What brand of tampons or sanitary napkins, do you wear? The “go to” brand that you ONLY use that you never leave home without? The main “go to” products are Playtex, Always, Kotex, Stayfree and the list goes on. I was an Always and Tampax type of girl myself and thought that they were the best products on earth. Although they were my “go to” products for quite some time, I never actually thought about what they were made of and how these products were affecting my body. I just knew that I needed them once a month, faithfully.
Instant gratification is the theory of this century in which we want more of everything and we want it now! In order to get more, make things bigger, produce things faster and more accessible things like pesticides and genetically modified organism are used… but what kind of affect does that have on our bodies? As a result of wanting more and faster production of resources, we are wearing some of the things listed below down under:
- Cotton tampons that contain pesticides
- Genetically modified cotton
- Chlorine in pad and tampons to get that pretty white and pure color
- Polypropylene and Polyethylene thermoplastic polymers
- Rayon contains dioxin
When we wear the things listed above down under, what does that really mean?
Please Stay tuned for What are you wearing down under? Part II
Awesome article! It’s difficult for a woman to know that she could be contaminating her reproductive source, with what’s deemed to be a necessity. I can’t wait to read part ll.

Often times we never consider these products to be harmful. I’m interested in more details concerning what it can do to our bodies.
Because these products have always been a necessity, I can honestly say that I never thought of the chemicals & products used to produce them. Pesticides and chlorine…eek! Patiently awaiting Part II !!
